As a social worker by trade, I have a passion for child and youth in care as well as an understanding of how the varying components such as licensing, contractual obligations, individual needs and complexity of staff teams can be.
My experience in the field paired with my training as a certified synergetic play therapist makes me an expert in the field of youth in care. I offer a variety of consultative services that can benefit both individuals and organizations.
Critical Incident Debriefing
Having working in specialized homes for over 10 years, I understand the significant impact that critical incidents can have on individuals and organizations. Our critical incident debriefing consultation service is designed to provide support and guidance to help manage the aftermath of such events.
During our consultation, we focus on assessing the immediate needs of those affected, providing psychological first aid, and developing a comprehensive plan for ongoing support. Our goal is to foster resilience, promote healing, and mitigate the potential long-term effects of critical incidents.
Additionally, our consultation services include guidance on implementing proactive measures to prevent and prepare for future critical incidents.
I work collaboratively with organizations to develop strategies for building resilience and fostering a supportive environment for employees.
Connect & Play Counselling and Consulting is dedicated to helping organizations navigate the challenges associated with critical incidents. Our commitment to quality care and comprehensive support ensures that our critical incident debriefing consultation services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.
Case Conceptualization
When it comes to case conceptualization my approach at Connect & Play is rooted in a deep understanding of each client's unique background, experiences, and needs. My consulting services prioritize the development of a comprehensive and holistic understanding of the individuals and situations we work with.
A typical consultation begins with gathering relevant information about the client, including their personal history, current challenges, and goals for the future. This comprehensive assessment allows us to gain a clear picture of the client's strengths, resources, and areas for growth. From there, I work with the support team to employ theoretical frameworks and evidence-based practices to develop a tailored case conceptualization that may be inclusive of safety planning, individualized programming, strategies for support staff/caregivers and advocacy.
I understand that clients' experiences and circumstances evolve, and thus, importance is placed on continually revisiting and refining the conceptualization to ensure its relevance and effectiveness throughout the consulting process.
Application of Synergetic Play Therapy to De-escalation Models
De-escalation models are typically designed to help individuals manage their emotions and behaviours when facing heightened states of stress, anxiety or anger. These models often employ various techniques to assist in helping individuals regain self-control and make alternative choices.
My understanding of Synergetic Play Therapy applied to various de-escalation modalities can strengthen staff confidence when faced with various scenarios as well as provide a different lens to view behaviour.
